Volcano Could Affect Air Travel

Postby kelly » Fri Aug 17, 2007 8:46 am

A huge volcano on an island just southwest of Alaska could affect air travel as it lies directly in the path of hundreds of international flights.
The Pavlof Volcano has recently shown strong thermal readings which may suggest an eruption. Seismic activity was first picked up at the 8,262-ft volcano on Tuesday, with one tremor recorded every minute.

All flights are canceled due to the volcanic ash. Volcano ash can cause failure in an airplane's engine that's why UK airport terminals stop their service temporarily. It is important to ensure the safety of the passengers.
