8.8 Magnitude Earthquake hits Chile

An 8.8 magnitude Earthquake has hit the coast of Chile with its epicentre near the town of Concepcion. The quake struck around 3.30AM Local Time and is estimated to have killed at least 50 people.

This is the largest Earthquake to hit Chile in 50 years.
Many aftershock earthquakes have also been reported.

Tsunami warnings have been issued for the majority of countries around the pacific rim.
